PortaBarre with Case 2-3/8 Inch x 3.7×4.5 Ft. is exactly what the name describes: a truly portable ballet dance barre. Designed by dancers, PortaBarre is extremely lightweight, yet highly durable and stable. Rosco’s PortaBarre uses an internal double-button interlocking system, which makes assembly and disassembly possible in a matter of a few minutes, and it does not require tools or locking keys.

Customers do not need special tools or interlocking fasteners to complete the installation. This results in an inexpensive system versus more complex kits that require carrying extra tools and multiple small connector pieces that are easy to lose accidentally.

The design includes a perpendicular bar that sits along the ground and provides stability for the entire device. It has enough stability for both kids and adults to use.

Remember that the barre bar exists to provide support, but it will not completely hold the entire weight of dancers and athletes. With the proper technique, people using it should place very little actual weight on the bar. The barre bar should serve as a means of helping with maintaining balance only.

It measures 4.5 feet in length, which is the ideal size for one or two people to use. One advantage of the portable temporary design versus a permanent design is that students can stand on either side of the barre and use it. A permanently installed barre has only one side available for use.

The entire unit disassembles almost as quickly as it goes together. Students can place the individual pieces into the carrying case, so they can set up a practice space almost anywhere.

Versus a steel or wood barre bar, our all-aluminum system weighs far less. This gives it a high level of portability. Most students should be able to carry the 15-pound kit between the practice area and the home.

In fact, studios or home settings that choose to install a permanent ballet barre often will choose wood or steel because they don’t have to carry these heavy materials with them. Aluminum delivers a level of portability that other materials cannot match. Aluminum requires less maintenance too.

Use Cases for a Portable Ballet Barre

Ballet
Ballet students can practice at home with this kit. It allows a space in the home to serve multiple purposes, as the student would disassemble the barre kit after using it, allowing the room to return to its normal use.

Portable kits don’t have quite the level of stability of a permanent installation. However, because students should not fully lean on the barre anyway, this portable setup can help them learn to use the barre correctly. Students could get in the bad habit of fully leaning on a permanently installed barre.

Isometric Exercise
Some isometric exercise classes will make use of a barre bar to allow students to stretch efficiently. These exercises often involve long holds while stretching and balancing, and the barre works well for this type of workout.

Barre Workout
A barre workout makes use of the barre bar to help the athlete focus on a particular muscle group to gain improved flexibility. These exercises may mimic those that a ballet dancer performs, but they also may borrow techniques and movements from yoga, aerobics, and Pilates.

Maintenance and Care

Because of the use of aluminum material in this portable ballet barre equipment, it does not require regular maintenance. The aluminum bars often have an anti-microbial capability in the powder coating over the surface of the metal for additional safety.

If the aluminum ends up with dust or other soils on it, customers are able to wipe it down with a damp cloth. If desired, customers are able to add a mild detergent to the water for the damp cloth.

For situations where excess moisture appears on the posts, the manufacturer recommends wiping the posts with a dry cloth to prevent water spots from forming.

Although the powder-coated finish is scratch resistant and durable, customers should take care to avoid situations where the aluminum could become subject to sharp or hard materials that could gouge or dent it. Never use steel wool or harsh chemicals on the powder-coated aluminum.
