These foam squares are ideal for making a home martial arts space. Measuring 20 mm thick, they provide the shock absorption needed for home karate and taekwondo practice. The thatch texture on the top surface provides a bit of traction and is resistant to scuffs. These tiles can be used with wrestling shoes, tennis shoes, boxing shoes, or bare feet, making them a versatile choice.

These mats are designed for a dry lay installation, and there’s no need to use any adhesive. If you want to cut them to fit an area, it’s best to use a sharp utility knife and a straight edge to guide your cuts. Each mat includes border pieces, which you can use to create an island installation with clean, finished edges.

The 2×2-foot mat size will quickly cover large areas, but the mats are also sized to be convenient to transport or store. You can easily remove and reinstall them as needed.

Color tones and shades may vary within a single order. Such variations commonly occur with EVA foam tiles. Using a checkerboard or other multi-color pattern can make this variation less noticeable. Also, high heels and other sharp objects could puncture the top. Since the material is soft, furniture can indent the tiles but doesn’t typically affect the use of the floor. You can use furniture coasters to disperse the weight of the furniture. Finally, avoid installing them atop carpeting, as they may shift and slide.

Not recommended for use outdoors, as EVA foam will expand when exposed to direct sunlight and heat.

Color variation is possible from lot to lot, even within the same order. Using a checkerboard or other multi-color pattern can help make this variation less noticeable.

Existing mats may not interlock with new mats due to natural expansion and wear of used mats. Please contact customer service about any concerns.

Can foam mats get wet?

These mats are water-resistant and will not absorb moisture, so they can be used safely in places where there may be occasional spills or sweat from workouts. Wipe clean with a towel, rather than allowing the liquid to sit on the surfaces. This will prevent water spots while drying.

How do you clean a foam play mat?

Mop them with a standard household cleaner, as long as the cleaner does not contain bleach. They are easy to clean, as basic soap and water will work nicely for the cleaning, keeping the surface of the material safe from germs for babies crawling on their hands and knees. We do not recommend steam cleaning with these jigsaw puzzle-style interlocking gym mats. The steam may cause them to expand. They are not machine washable either. Test any vacuum for causing discoloration before using it on the full layout.

Maintenance

The product can be damp mopped with common household floor cleaners; avoid bleach. Test your vacuum before use.
